Music at South Church

photo (14)The psalmist says, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” For thousands of years, the faith community has known that a primary language that reaches the soul is the language of music. When we come to church, we hope our souls will be healed or blessed or inspired. Music, in all its forms, has the potential for reaching the soul.

At South Church, it is the Music Ministry Team that provides leadership and resources that enable us to “make a joyful noise” unto the Lord. Instrumentalists are encouraged to share their talents, singers are encouraged to use their voices to praise God; guests are invited to broaden our exposure to and appreciation of the diversity of musical gifts. God blesses us with spiritual gifts for making music. The Music Team harvests them.

Music is an integral part of worship at South Church. In fact, making music is a form of worship whether from the choir loft, a classroom, around a campfire or a seat in the congregation. Our music program welcomes adults and children of all ages and skill levels who wish to participate in a meaningful ministry with our congregation. We have opportunities to sing in large and small ensembles, as soloists, as well as to play instruments.

The core of our music program is the volunteer choir(s.)
